For several nights, we found this family of birds huddled on some bars over one of the windows on our building. I've thought about them several times as Grandpa and I have been facing some difficult things together.
Things like tonight - we went to the Mission Office to do check ins online and print boarding passes for the 19 missionaries leaving tomorrow (you can't do it more that about 24 hours ahead, so today was our option). Things got exciting when we couldn't get anything for 7 of them - we then learned that one of the flights had been cancelled. We had to make some urgent calls and woke up some travel people in Utah, but were able to get new flights booked, get them all checked in, boarding passes printed, send email notifications to parents and missionaries, and have a list of parents to call in the morning.
Together we accomplished all that with hubbub of 6 to 10 missionaries coming in and out, playing ukuleles, laughing, needing the computers, laughing and wanting to chat, some of them needing help, two worried that they weren't going to be able to go home tomorrow, etc. etc.
Anyway, just one example of needing to hold on tight to Grandpa and stick together (or snuggle together) to get through the darkness. Families are the best! We love you!
